Sunset Supper
This image almost never happened. I had been shooting all day since dawn and had kayaked for miles. I photographed this bull non stop for a couple hours as he fed. As I was paddling away I noticed the sunset beginning to take shape behind him. I planned the shot in my mind but there were two issues - I needed to switch to a wide angle lens from telephoto to get the whole scene plus I needed to paddle on only one side of the kayak so as not to disturb the beautiful circles forming in the water from the bull’s repetitive submersion of his head as he fed. Somehow I got into place….very close to the bull….with my wide angle lens. Magic happened.
